It’s that time of the year again: the U.S. Naval Academy’s plebe class of 2015 climbed the Herndon Monument without a hitch — in an hour and 38 minutes Monday.

For the roughly 1,000 freshman, their last duty was to remove the plebe “dixie cup” hat that is taped down on top of the 21-foot obelisk that was covered with about 50 pounds of very greasy lard — and replace it with a midshipmen’s hat.
