From earlier Today:

My friend W: “Me and J are going to the mall do you wanna come too?”

Me: “Yeah sure.”

We walk to meet J who’s with T.

T: “I’m not having him in my car.”

W and J: “What do you mean?”

I didn’t process what T said exactly but it was something like “Don’t really want homos…”

W and J half laughed and I cut it off saying “Ok I’ll just leave” and then W said “No wait..” but I already walked away and didn’t want to look back and then I guess they went. It’s so embarrassing when people say things like that in front of your own friends.

I haven’t even spoken to T many times at all and it’s not like I’m feminine or obviously gay but my town is full of homophobes. I hate college.

Dear Charles,

T is an as$hole. T is not indicative of straight people as a whole.

T is a POS and quite frankly your other friends are pretty shitty for not sticking up for you. Were I to witness that, I’d have told T to go f**k off and that I would not be going with him either.

Were I you, I think it would have been appropriate to put a little pressure on W to see how he reacted when he had to make a choice on the issue – if only so you’d know where he really stands on the issue. By walking off you gave him an easy out.

But I’ll stop there and let our readers weigh in. Please share your advice in the Comments below.
